7.5. Accumulator wires - check and replacement

Periodically examine wires on presence of damages, cracks, isolation or corrosion rupture. Check up a condition of contacts and clear them of corrosion. Always disconnect a wire of the minus plug the first and connect its last.

1. Disconnect from the battery both cable, having begun with a cable of a negative pole.

2. Disconnect a fastening collar.

3. Lift the battery. Consider, that the battery heavy.

4. Having got the battery examine a tray, believe corrosion presence.

5. At battery replacement be convinced, that parametres of the new battery (dimensions, capacity and a return current) precisely same, as at the replaced.

6. The battery is established upside-down.

1. Periodically check cables on all length, damage, растрескивание or the burn-out of isolation of cables, and also corrosion are not supposed. Unreliable connection of the battery can cause refusals at engine start-up, and also deterioration of operational qualities of the engine.

2.  Check up a condition of connections of poles with plugs, presence on them corrosion, cracks and easing of fastening of wires. Presence of a white shelled touch under isolation in a plug place testifies to corrosion of conductors of a cable and necessity of its replacement. Check up presence of corrosion and deformations on plugs and a condition of bolts of fastening.

3. At removal of cables always disconnect the battery from weight first of all, and connect to weight during the latest moment, in avoidance закорачивания poles of the battery the tool by which plugs are tightened. If it is necessary to replace only a cable of a positive pole at first disconnect a cable from a negative pole (procedure of removal of cables it is in detail described in Chapter 1).

4. Disconnect from the battery old cables, track packing of cables on their length and find places of their fastening to a starter and to weight, disconnect cables from the traction relay of a starter and weight. Remember a route on which the cable is laid to lay a new cable to the place of were in operation.

5. If cables are replaced new getting new cables, grasp with itself old. It is the extremely important, that new cables in accuracy corresponded to the old. The cable of a positive pole is easy for distinguishing from a cable negative, - isolation of a cable of a positive pole of usually red colour, these cables have большее cross-section section, the storage plug differs in the big diameter. Isolation of a cable of connection with weight of black colour, cross-section section and diameter of the plug is less, than at a cable of a positive pole of the battery.

6. Clear carvings of fastening of cables of the battery on the traction relay of a starter and on a body, remove corrosion traces.

For protection from corrosion grease carvings with technical vaseline or special protective structure for storage plugs.

7. Attach a cable to the traction relay of a starter or to weight, reliably tighten nuts and fastening bolts.

8. Before joining to the battery of a new cable, be convinced, that the cable has sufficient length, and will be established without a tension.

9. At first attach a cable to a positive pole of the battery, then to the negative.
